What If...

..I forgo all practical instincts and logical social expectation....

...and decide to teach children instead of research....

...I worked right after graduation instead of pursuing a PhD...

...I chose to get a PhD in Education instead of Neuroscience...

...I choose to serve the younger population instead of myself...

...I take the road less taken...

I don't think of teaching as forgoing one's practical instincts.

And I think going to MIT makes it difficult to see becoming a teacher as a good decision.

(I get a lot of shit from people because I plan to teach.)

Just sayin'.

i don't see how any of those paths are against "practical instincts" or "logical social expectation". if you are really passionate about teaching children, then get started now - there's no reason to wait for later. there are plenty of people who work right after graduation instead of pursuing a phd; and even then, there are plenty of people who get degrees in education too. i would argue that "serving" the younger population is not the road less taken - just look at how many people do that right on this campus.

it doesn't have to be a what if. if you really want to do it, then do it.
